Sony, TSMC to invest $6.3bn in advanced image sensor plant in Kumamoto
Image: Primary Sony Group and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. plan to invest $6.3 billion in an advanced image sensor plant in Kumamoto prefecture, the companies announced. The two companies reached a basic agreement in May to cooperate on the development and production of next-generation image sensors.
They target mass production as early as 2029 through a new joint venture. Nikkei reported the plan from Tokyo, Kumamoto and Taipei.
