Google expands checkout inside AI Mode and Gemini to Canada

Google expands checkout inside AI Mode and Gemini to Canada Image: Primary
Google announced on November 4 that it is expanding direct checkout to Canadian shoppers in AI Mode in Search and the Gemini app. The initial rollout includes lululemon, Shoppers Drug Mart, Simons and select Shopify merchants, allowing purchases without leaving the conversation. The feature uses the Universal Commerce Protocol, which connects shopping interfaces, merchants and payment providers. Shoppers pay through Google Pay using payment methods and shipping details saved in Google Wallet. Google says retailers remain the seller of record. Simplified integration through Merchant Center is planned for next year. Initial access remains limited to the launch group, and loyalty rewards are planned for the coming months.
