Gießen council approves €1 billion data-center project Image: DCD
Gießen's municipal council has approved construction of a data center proposed by developer Revikon in Hesse, Germany. The project is expected to cost more than €1 billion, use a six-hectare site and be designed for up to 65MW of power. Thirty-eight of 57 council members backed the plan. Construction is scheduled to begin toward the end of the year, while Revikon and municipal authorities still must choose an operator and refine the technical design. The developer has previously proposed using waste heat to warm local homes.
