Waymo closes first debt financing with $5 billion term loan

Waymo closes first debt financing with $5 billion term loan Image: Primary
Waymo says it closed a $5 billion term loan, its first debt financing, to fund expansion of its fully autonomous ride-hailing service in the United States and internationally. PIMCO, Blackstone and Sixth Street participated as lead syndicated lenders, and Goldman Sachs served as the sole lead bookrunner. The loan follows a $16 billion equity investment earlier this year. Waymo launched service in its fifteenth U.S. city last month and announced new international cities. The company says the debt adds financial flexibility alongside its equity financing; lender participation may include funds or client accounts managed by the named institutions or their affiliates.
