Google updates Gemini on Android with blurred background interface

Google is rolling out a redesigned interface for its Gemini assistant on Android that features a blurred background effect, the company announced Friday. The update allows the assistant to stand out while still showing the underlying app or screen for multitasking. The redesign also includes thinner icons, a revamped plus menu, Dynamic Color support, and the ability for Gemini Live chats to remain in the same overlay rather than opening a new screen. The changes have appeared on devices including the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Pixel 10 Pro XL, indicating the rollout extends beyond Pixel phones. There is no manual way to enable the update, as it is being deployed server-side.
