SUSE plans to cut one in 10 jobs, citing AI and automation

SUSE lays off 1 in 10 workers – citing AI and automation Image: Primary
Enterprise Linux provider SUSE plans to lay off one in 10 of its nearly 2,000 employees, ZDNET reported, citing The Register's reporting on an email from chief executive Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen. The CEO cited automation and AI as factors in the planned cuts. Van Leeuwen told staff that modern tools were changing workflows, reducing operational overhead and flattening reporting lines. He said demand for some existing roles had greatly diminished and others would evolve over the next few years. His email did not make clear whether he was referring to internal adoption of AI tools.
