Meta AI Doesn't Just Think, It Acts

Meta announced new capabilities for its Meta AI assistant powered by the Muse Spark 1.1 model, saying the system can now plan and execute tasks on behalf of users. The company said the assistant can make plans, follow through on next steps, and keep users on track without repeated prompting. Meta said users can ask the assistant to handle tasks such as renovating a kitchen by learning style preferences, scouting Marketplace for furniture, and sending a mood board. Other examples include building a half-marathon training schedule that adjusts for availability and sending weekly updates, or planning a birthday dinner by finding restaurants and checking calendars. The assistant can also provide daily briefings that pull calendar information and flag conflicts, conduct research across the web and social apps, and generate slides from findings. Users can steer outputs in real time while the assistant works, and created items such as schedules and presentations are stored in one place for revisiting and sharing. The features began rolling out Thursday in select markets in the Meta AI app and meta.ai, with plans to expand to more countries and surfaces including WhatsApp in the coming weeks.
