Cambridge biotech company bit.bio announced $25M in Series D funding on Wednesday to bring more human cell types to market and expand its customer base. Backers include existing investor M&G Investments and Abcam founder Dr Jonathan Milner. Its opti-ox platform converts stem cells into specific cell types for laboratory research, producing consistent batches at scale. Its ioCells range includes more than 50 cell types used to study disease and test potential drugs. The company says paid vial volumes rose 76% this year. With manufacturing capacity already in place, it plans to spend the funding on products and customers rather than additional production infrastructure. It did not disclose a lead investor or valuation.
