Perplexity adds local-cloud task splitting to Mac app

Perplexity adds local-cloud task splitting to Mac app Image: Primary
Perplexity has introduced Hybrid Compute for its Mac app, allowing tasks to be divided between cloud models and local language models. The company says the app checks uploads and other information for sensitive content, lets users review what remains local, and can run local models without a terminal setup. Local generation does not consume cloud tokens. The feature is available to Pro, Max and enterprise customers on Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 15; Perplexity recommends at least 32GB of unified memory.
