Supabase opens OrioleDB beta and invites testing of database failover

Supabase opens OrioleDB beta and invites testing of database failover Image: Primary
Supabase opened a public beta of OrioleDB, a Postgres storage engine, and announced an invitation-only private alpha of Multigres for connection pooling and automated failover. New projects can select OrioleDB during creation and use it alongside conventional storage on individual tables. Supabase says OrioleDB replaces discarded row versions with automatically reclaimed undo records, removing the need for VACUUM cleanup. It reports up to 1.8x higher throughput in its public benchmarks. Multigres runs three database nodes across availability zones and uses agreement between nodes to preserve committed writes during failover. Its alpha is for testing rather than production workloads.
