UK competition regulator opens investigation into Meta's business terms

UK competition regulator opens investigation into Meta's business terms Image: Primary
The UK Competition and Markets Authority opened an investigation on 30 October into whether Meta's commercial terms for businesses breach competition law. The regulator is concerned that requiring businesses to accept those terms may impose unfair trading conditions on companies that rely on Meta to reach customers and audiences. The investigation will assess whether Meta holds a dominant position in relevant UK markets and whether its existing or revised terms abuse that position. The CMA plans initial information gathering and engagement with Meta and third parties from October 2026 to January 2027, subject to change. It has made no finding that Meta broke competition law.
