WIRED reported that at least seven people associated with the America First Policy Institute have been detailed to the US Census Bureau through temporary Intergovernmental Personnel Act appointments. The report says the group has special sworn status to access sensitive Census data and is assigned to an ad hoc data-analysis project for senior Census and Commerce leaders. Census data help support apportionment, districting and federal funding allocation. Census and AFPI did not respond to requests for comment.
