Microsoft reports faster Windows performance on PCs with 8GB of RAM Image: Primary
Microsoft says Windows PCs with 8GB of RAM are now 20% more responsive and 40% faster at multitasking in its laboratory tests, following software changes described in a blog post this week. The changes keep up to 2GB of additional active data in memory to avoid reloading it. Microsoft also reports memory reductions of up to 360MB in Microsoft 365 apps, while loading Widgets on demand saves around 200MB. Teams has gained an Efficiency Mode. The company continues to work on memory compression and with third-party developers to reduce memory use.
