Von der Leyen proposes EU talks on slowing frontier AI

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the EU would arrange discussions with major AI labs on how public authorities could support efforts to pace frontier-model development. She framed the proposed discussions around security risks from advanced models and said the EU would work with partners including Canada and the UK on evaluation, verification, early warning and AI security. She gave no meeting date and did not identify participating companies.
