AEP plans a $4 billion, 702 MW fuel-cell installation near Cheyenne under a 20-year power purchase agreement with Google, Data Center Frontier reported. The project targets full operations by late 2028. AEP will control approximately 92% of the development through an unregulated venture outside its traditional utility territory. Bloom Energy's solid oxide fuel cells allow phased generation deployment. The installation is being designed to incorporate carbon capture, but its equipment configuration, capture rate and carbon storage arrangements have not been disclosed.
