Anthropic puts Claude to work in new chip design unit Image: Primary
Anthropic has formed a 15-person hardware unit that uses Claude models to accelerate custom chip development, Yahoo Finance reported, citing The Information. The company described the work to prospective IPO investors in recent meetings as a way to shorten semiconductor engineering workflows. Anthropic has also reportedly approached electronic design automation firms for proprietary chip design datasets to improve its models. It has not articulated plans to commercialize Claude's semiconductor engineering capabilities. Wider adoption could face resistance from chipmakers concerned about exposing proprietary designs to external models.
