Russia requires private data centers to reserve 10 percent of capacity for state use

Russia requires private data centers to reserve 10 percent of capacity for state use Image: DCD
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree requiring non-state data centers to reserve 10 percent of their capacity for government use with 24 hours' notice. The measure follows drone attacks that have disrupted services at Russian data centers, DCD reported. Putin also instructed the Digital Development Ministry to study available capacity and floor space at privately owned facilities across the country. The decree allows the state to temporarily use data centers outside Russia, provided the process receives approval from the FSB security service.
