Chilean telecommunications company Entel has launched a new Edge data center solution called EdgeDC in partnership with micro data center firm Zella DC. The offering is designed to bring data center capabilities directly to locations where data is generated. Entel Digital says the modular all-in-one solution integrates power, cooling, security, and monitoring into single units that can be deployed at remote sites, branches, retail locations, and industrial settings. The company noted that operations increasingly occur in distributed environments where continuity cannot depend solely on centralized data centers. Zella DC, previously known as Zellabox, is a Perth-based company that offers self-contained, single-rack data center pods deployable both indoors and outdoors. CEO Angie Keeler highlighted growing demand for infrastructure closer to operational sites across distributed networks. The EdgeDC launch addresses the need for real-time business operations regardless of location, particularly in industrial settings and remote sites where traditional data center connectivity may be limited. The solution aims to support businesses operating in distributed networks while maintaining operational continuity.
