Bot-detection startup Spur raises $200M from Insight Partners
Image: Primary Spur Intelligence announced on July 28, 2026 that Insight Partners has led a $200 million investment in the Florida company.
The company's platform sits between cybersecurity and identity, analyzing whether traffic comes through VPNs, residential proxies, bot networks, data centers, mobile gateways or AI-linked infrastructure and sending that intelligence through APIs, data feeds and session-enrichment tools. Spur's April growth update said annual recurring revenue rose 33% year over year in the first quarter of 2026, existing customer add-on business grew 94%, and net retention was 106%. A July update put second-quarter annual recurring revenue growth at 42%, new business growth at 210%, net revenue retention at 109%, and scheduled customer renewals retained at 100%.
Spur's own announcement said its 2026 IP Intelligence Study found that 94% of organisations encountered anonymising VPNs or residential proxies during security incidents, while nearly half plan to implement, upgrade or buy a commercial IP intelligence tool within the next 12 months. Thales's 2026 Bad Bot Report found that bots made up 53% of observed internet traffic in 2025, with bad bots alone accounting for 40%. DataDome's 2025 Global Bot Security Report found that only 2.8% of nearly 17,000 tested websites were fully protected against unwanted automation, down from 8.4% in 2024.
