Semiconductor selloff wipes out approximately $1 trillion in intraday value

Intel Image: Primary
Semiconductor stocks lost approximately $1 trillion in market capitalization on Friday, according to intraday Benzinga estimates cited by Tom's Hardware, as Intel's weak outlook triggered a broader selloff. The PHLX Semiconductor Sector Index fell 9.14% to 10,465.38 points as of 2:31 PM ET. The decline extended beyond Intel to chip designers, equipment suppliers and server manufacturers. AMD fell 12.48%, while Nvidia declined 5.66%. Intel expects the client PC market to shrink 10% in 2027 as elevated memory prices and component shortages weigh on demand. The sector's dollar loss was an intraday estimate rather than a closing-market total.
