Micron says memory shortages will tighten in 2027 and 2028

Micron Building Image: Primary
Micron expects demand for memory and storage chips to exceed supply in 2027 and 2028, with shortages worsening from 2026, CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said during its FY 2026 earnings call. Most of its capacity for next year is already sold, and customers will have to pay more than in 2026. Micron expects NAND and DRAM shipments to grow in the low-to-mid 20s percentage range for the next two years, but still forecasts supply constraints. It expects shipments of high-bandwidth memory for AI data centres to grow faster than conventional DRAM. Mehrotra said Micron cannot see when supply and demand will return to balance. Acer's CEO has instead predicted declining PC prices by late 2027.
