AWS adds cross-Region S3 queries to Amazon Redshift

AWS says Amazon Redshift can now query S3 data lake tables in another AWS Region without first copying or replicating them. The capability lets enterprises analyze distributed data and consolidate reporting while leaving source data in its designated Region. The integrated query engine runs on the compute of RG provisioned and Serverless clusters. With enhanced VPC routing, query traffic stays within the customer's private network rather than traversing public networks. Both capabilities are available wherever those cluster types are offered. Cross-Region queries incur standard data transfer charges.
