Fidji Simo joins Nscale board as AI infrastructure startup adds ex-OpenAI executive

Former OpenAI executive Fidji Simo has joined the board of directors at AI infrastructure startup Nscale, according to a Wall Street Journal report cited by Techmeme. Nscale board member Sheryl Sandberg recruited Simo, who departed OpenAI following a medical leave, the report says. Simo will continue as a part-time advisor to OpenAI while serving on the Nscale board. The appointment places a former senior OpenAI executive inside a company that supplies compute capacity for AI workloads, a sector where board-level relationships can shape customer and capital access. The report does not disclose the terms of the appointment or any specific Nscale projects Simo will oversee.
