Invest-NL proposes €650 million to €1.1 billion for agrifood biotechnology Image: EU-Startups
Dutch investment institution Invest-NL proposed €650 million to €1.1 billion in public financing capacity between 2026 and 2030 to support agrifood biotechnology, EU-Startups reported. Its new report identifies regulatory delays and insufficient industrial financing as barriers to commercial growth. The proposal spans research, regulatory improvements, infrastructure and industrial scale-up. Invest-NL wants earlier regulatory guidance and more predictable assessments while preserving safety. European approval for biological crop protection products can take eight to ten years, prompting some companies to launch first in Brazil or the United States.
