Microsoft rolls out Cloud Rebuild beta to reinstall Windows 11 from the cloud

Microsoft has begun rolling out Cloud Rebuild, a Windows 11 recovery feature that reinstalls the operating system by downloading a fresh image and required drivers through Windows Update, the company said. The feature is available as a beta in Windows 11 Insider Beta Preview Build 26220.9343 and is reached through the Windows Recovery Environment under Troubleshoot, then Recovery and uninstall. Microsoft says it restores a PC to a clean, known-good state without a USB drive or custom recovery image, and that WinRE can now reuse saved Wi-Fi profiles. Cloud Rebuild wipes the system drive, removing local files, accounts, applications and settings. Microsoft says a wider release is expected later this year.
