AWS adds free EC2 metric to track instances allowing IMDSv1

Amazon EC2 now provides a CloudWatch metric showing which instances still allow Version 1 of its Instance Metadata Service, AWS announced. The ImdsV1Enabled metric is available in all AWS Regions at no additional cost. Customers can use dashboards and alarms to identify migration gaps across accounts and Regions and prioritize remediation as they move to IMDSv2. The metric supplies an ongoing signal without requiring customers to build their own tools to check instance metadata settings; it tracks remaining exposure to IMDSv1 rather than performing the migration.
