Google separates school Search and Gemini controls after backlash

Google separates school Search and Gemini controls after backlash Image: Primary
Google has backed away from a setting that required schools to disable Google Search when turning off Gemini, EFF reports. Google clarified that Gemini, Gemini notebook and Search will have separate controls and will be off by default. The reversal gives administrators separate choices over those services, but it does not provide a general switch to disable AI overviews in Google Search. EFF says schools face substantial costs when changing providers, including contract processes, staff retraining and migration of past work.
