Microsoft presents Surface Laptop Ultra for running large AI models locally

Microsoft Announces AI Updates At Windows Event In San Francisco Image: Primary
Microsoft presented a Surface Laptop Ultra starting at $2,599 at its Windows and Surface event this week, The Verge reported. Powered by Nvidia RTX Spark chips, the laptop can run AI models exceeding 120 billion parameters locally. Microsoft also demonstrated GitHub Copilot coding locally without cloud token costs. The device targets developers and creators as Microsoft pursues AI agents that work across local computers and cloud services. Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and MSI also have RTX Spark laptops. Some RTX Spark PCs cost $6,999, and The Verge found Microsoft's demonstrations offered few practical benefits for ordinary Windows users.
