IonQ Gets Final Regulatory Approval for SkyWater Deal
Image: Primary Quantum computing company IonQ said Tuesday it has secured final regulatory clearance to close its acquisition of U.S.-based semiconductor foundry SkyWater Technology. IonQ said it expects the transaction to close on Friday, July 31.
SkyWater will operate as a wholly owned IonQ subsidiary under its own name and will keep serving its existing customer base. IonQ said its proprietary technology and development services will work alongside SkyWater's manufacturing capabilities to serve the broader quantum ecosystem.
In January, IonQ agreed to acquire SkyWater to form a vertically integrated, full-stack quantum platform company. SkyWater stockholders approved the merger in May. SkyWater is a Defense Microelectronics Activity-accredited Category 1A Trusted Foundry with facilities in Minnesota, Florida and Texas.
