Swedish drone demo tests onboard autonomous target selection

Scaleout Systems demonstrated a loitering munition that detected, geolocated and ranked targets before autonomously flying to and dropping an explosive on an armored engineering vehicle in BAE Systems Bofors' Winter Demo 2026. The Swedish startup said processing ran onboard and the mission could continue without communications. The system operated under human-set engagement parameters, with a designated pilot retained as a failsafe controller. The demonstrations precede any NATO procurement order or combat deployment.
