Shopify details device-free testing architecture for native mobile apps

Shopify details device-free testing architecture for native mobile apps Image: Primary
Shopify says its Reflex architecture runs 1,700+ behavior tests in about four minutes on CI across its native iOS and Android implementations. The company described how it tests application logic without rendering screens or launching a simulator, giving coding agents a faster way to check their work. A command-line tool reads screen state and invokes actions through a shared contract, while one test file runs against both platforms. Pull requests cannot merge unless tests pass on both. The tests replace network and device dependencies with fixtures and do not inspect rendered interfaces. Shopify is publishing the architecture rather than a reusable library.
