The European Commission has adopted the 2027 European Innovation Council Work Programme, allocating €1.8 billion for European technology startups, scale-ups and researchers. The programme supports technologies moving from research to commercialisation and expands investment access for women-led and defence technology companies. It completes the €1 billion commitment to the Scaleup Europe Fund and funding allocations of €200 million for defence investments and €25 million for the Advanced Innovation Challenges pilot. A redesigned Women TechEU initiative doubles individual grants to €150k. New measures will also connect EIC-backed startups with public and private procurers to test technologies and explore commercial applications.
