Google March 2026 Core Update begins rolling out
Image: Primary Google officially announced the rollout of the March 2026 core update early Friday morning at around 5:14 ET. The update is expected to take up to two weeks to roll out, although Google later indicated the process could last about three weeks.
Google said the March 2026 core update is a regular update designed to better surface relevant, satisfying content for searchers from all types of sites. The company described it as the first core update of 2026 and noted that it targets all types of content without functioning as a penalty.
The update is global and applies across all regions and languages. It updates core systems and also affects Google Discover along with other features such as featured snippets. Site owners who observe changes are advised to review their content against Google's core update guidance to determine whether adjustments are needed.
Google indicated it will perform periodic refreshes to the algorithm but may not communicate those updates publicly. The company said the change promotes or rewards great web pages.
