UNESCO hosts global International Day of Women and Girls in Science event focused on AI and STEM inclusion
Image: Primary UNESCO will host a hybrid one-day event on 11 February 2026 to mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
The gathering at UNESCO Headquarters carries the theme From Vision to Impact: Redefining STEM
The celebration is organized in collaboration with Femmes@Numérique. It will bring together member states, rising and renowned scientists from programs including the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Programme and OWSD Chapters, public and private sector stakeholders, UNESCO scientific networks, journalists and students.
Panel discussions will cover health research, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and scientific entrepreneurship. Speakers will share concrete measures shown to reduce the gender gap in these fields and conditions that enabled those outcomes. The event is fully booked for in-person participation with registration closed, while online registration remains open for the hybrid format.
