Vietnam's Government Cipher Committee and Viettel unveiled the VGC v1.0 security chip on November 3, with initial integration into secure USB storage devices for Party, State and defence agencies. The partners also signed an agreement to move the chip toward mass production and develop further secure semiconductor platforms. The chip embeds national cryptographic algorithms in hardware and uses 28-nanometre CMOS technology. Vietnam News reported test results showing encryption and decryption approximately 15 times faster than software-only solutions performing the same tasks. Further testing and certification are required for different operating environments.
