Tandem solar cell achieves certified 35.1% efficiency in laboratory study

Researchers report a perovskite/silicon tandem solar cell with certified stabilized power conversion efficiency of 35.1% in Nature. They engineered a molecular interface that coats rough silicon textures uniformly while preserving the movement of electrical charge. The design changes molecular shape to suppress excessive aggregation, addressing a tradeoff between conductivity and surface coverage. The device retained more than 94% of its initial performance after 1,500 hours of ageing under the ISOS-L-1 protocol. That durability result is specific to the stated laboratory ageing test.
