Ledger confirms hardware implant in wallet amid reported crypto thefts

STK428_CRYPTO_D Image: Primary
Ledger has confirmed an unauthorized hardware implant in one affected user's crypto wallet and asked reseller CryptoBillis to pause wallet sales while it investigates, The Verge reported. Reports link the suspected supply chain attack to over $86 million in crypto thefts from hundreds of wallets, primarily involving users in Southeast Asia. Images posted online appear to show a circuit board beneath the screen. The implant allegedly captures displayed information, including the seed passphrase during setup, and transmits it through an embedded SIM card. There is no indication that Ledger's systems or wallets purchased directly from the company have been affected.
