Opentrons raises $40 million to expand laboratory automation

Opentrons raises $40 million to expand laboratory automation Image: Primary
Opentrons Labworks announced $40 million in Series E funding to scale its robotics, software and data infrastructure tools. Healthcare investor Avego led the round alongside BroadOak Capital Partners, SiliconANGLE reported. The company makes benchtop robots that use motorized pipettes to transfer liquid between laboratory samples. Its Flex system can also use an optional gripper to move plates, allowing more experimental steps to run without human intervention. The smaller OT-2 focuses on repetitive liquid handling without Flex's higher capacity or automated plate handling.
