Vinci raises $250M to expand physics simulation software

Vinci raises $250M to expand physics simulation software Image: Primary
Vinci announced Tuesday that it raised $250M at a $1.5bn valuation to expand software that predicts how chip and hardware designs behave physically before they are built. Advent, Temasek and Xora Innovation led the round, with Eclipse, Khosla Ventures and Madrona participating. Chief executive Hardik Kabaria said the money will fund computing power, hiring and additional simulation products. The 70-person company plans to increase customer pilot deployments from two to 20. Vinci initially focused on heat and now aims to simulate entire systems, with vibration testing and electromagnetics planned later. Its claim that simulations run up to 1,000 times faster than conventional tools without losing accuracy has not been independently verified.
