RTX Ventures backs Xcimer laser work for potential air-defense use

The companies will examine integrating and containerizing Xcimer's laser technology in RTX defense systems, while the investment also supports Xcimer's fusion program. Xcimer says its approach is designed for repeatable pulses with lower cost and complexity. The agreement concerns exploration and development, not an operational weapon; the companies must still demonstrate deployable performance, efficiency and reliability.
