Amazon is rolling out text-message shopping through Alexa for Shopping to a small group of US customers starting today, The Verge reports. Customers can describe a product or send a photograph, receive recommendations from Amazon listings and have the assistant order on their behalf. The feature extends the Alexa for Shopping experience launched in May. It supports grocery orders, gift recommendations and searches for products resembling photographed items. Amazon says the assistant remembers preferences and can send alerts when watched items go on sale. Initial customers will receive an invitation by text. Amazon says access will expand to millions more customers in the coming weeks.
