Tesla Q2 update: Cybercab production starts at Giga Texas; Optimus lines installing at Fremont

Tesla said in a quarterly shareholder update posted on X on Tuesday that Cybercab production has started at Gigafactory Texas and that installation of first-generation Optimus lines is underway at the Fremont Factory. The company said it began offering employee rides in Cybercabs on its Texas campus in July and is preparing to expand its Robotaxi service to additional U.S. metros. Unsupervised rides have been expanded to the entire Austin metro area and launched in Miami, Orlando and Tampa. Tesla said the initial Optimus builds will be used in its Optimus Academy for training data collection and further functionality development. The update also noted that the Tesla Semi remains on track for volume production this year at a new factory in Nevada and that Megafactory Texas is nearing completion with production planned for this year. The automaker reported record energy storage deployments in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and said it has more than doubled its onsite compute capacity in Texas during the first half of 2026.
