Authors contest claims on Anthropic settlement payments

Authors expecting payments from Anthropic's $1.5 billion copyright settlement report that publishers and literary agencies have made claims on allocations for some books. The settlement pays $3,000 for each pirated work and generally splits payment equally between authors and traditional publishers for in-print titles. Writers Beware said complaints include claims for reverted rights and claims for full payments where publishers may be entitled to half. Some publishers have said the claims were errors they asked Anthropic to correct.
