FTC seeks comment on limits for personalized pricing

FTC seeks comment on limits for personalized pricing Image: Primary
The Federal Trade Commission has requested public comment on a proposed policy statement addressing personalized pricing, in which businesses use customer data to set individual prices. The FTC said it cannot ban the practice in all circumstances, but businesses that do not disclose data-driven pricing may violate laws the agency enforces. The proposed enforcement approach would allow 30 days for public comment. The agency said research on consumer effects and the scale of the practice remains limited.
