CRC and Bloom evaluate at least 1GW of California fuel-cell generation

CRC and Bloom evaluate at least 1GW of California fuel-cell generation Image: DCD
California Resources Corporation and Bloom Energy signed a non-binding memorandum to evaluate 1GW or more of fuel-cell generation in California, targeting data centers and other electricity buyers. The proposed projects would pair Bloom's solid oxide fuel cells, which convert fuel into electricity without combustion, with carbon capture systems. The plan covers utility-connected projects in Central and Northern California and on-site generation for industrial users across CRC's Central Valley footprint. Bloom would supply fuel cells and third-party capture technology; CRC would manage projects, with its Carbon TerraVault business expected to handle CO2 transport and storage. The partners will seek electricity buyers and undertake interconnection and permitting work. The memorandum commits them to evaluation rather than construction.
