Oncor expects approximately 20% increase in next five-year capital plan

Oncor Electric Delivery expects its 2027-2031 base capital plan to increase approximately 20% as data-center connection requests mount, Yahoo Finance reported. The Texas utility has not finalized the forecast and expects approximately $9 billion in capital spending in 2026. Its transmission queue contained about 293 gigawatts of data-center requests as of September 30. Those requests are neither operating facilities nor firm power commitments. Oncor held approximately $6 billion in collateral from customers seeking generation or large commercial and industrial connections to reduce cancellation risks for existing ratepayers. Approximately $2 billion was associated with projects in ERCOT's initial large-load review; the collateral does not eliminate every potential ratepayer expense.
