Google confirms Googlebook owners can unlock the bootloader

Google confirms Googlebook owners can unlock the bootloader Image: Primary
Google has confirmed that developers and advanced users can unlock a Googlebook's bootloader to install a custom operating system or test an app, 9to5Google reported. The bootloader controls how the device starts its operating system; unlocking it allows users to replace that software. Google's instructions require enabling OEM unlocking in Developer options, then entering the device's advanced startup options. Magisk developer John Wu also said support for Googlebook is in development. That would add root access, giving users greater control over the Android-based platform, but Wu said bringing Magisk to Googlebook still requires tweaks.
