Apple plans paid expanded access to server-based AI features

Apple New Product Launch Event Image: Primary
Apple plans to sell expanded access to AI features that rely on server-side models, CEO John Ternus said on its latest earnings call. Siri AI and intelligent photo editing will have usage limits, with customers able to purchase more capacity in the future. The plan adds a potential subscription business alongside Apple's hardware sales and commissions on third-party AI subscriptions. CFO Kevan Parekh said it was too early to predict how many requests would need servers rather than on-device processing; Siri AI's cloud costs will appear in services cost of sales.
