Fujitsu and Science Tokyo launch joint research hub for quantum Image: Primary
Fujitsu Limited and Institute of Science Tokyo announced the establishment of the Fujitsu Quantum and HPC Infrastructure Collaborative Research Cluster at Science Tokyo. The cluster aims to systematically develop human resources with quantum hardware technology in Japan. It operates under the Fujitsu Small Research Lab program and the Science Tokyo Collaborative Research Cluster System with support from the Open Innovation Office of the Center for Innovation Management. The effort expands an earlier joint project on next generation computing infrastructure. Research will address quantum hardware design, manufacturing, control and evaluation technologies. The organizations will also cultivate talent and explore new areas that integrate high performance computing and quantum technologies. The Quantum Theme Hub is located in Room 1017, South Building 3, Ookayama Campus, Institute of Science Tokyo, 2-12-1 Ookayama, Meguro-ku, Tokyo. Work there centers on quantum computer control technology and runs through March 31, 2027. The HPC Theme Hub is in Rooms 310 and 312, G2 Building, Yokohama Campus, Institute of Science Tokyo, 4259 Nagatsuta-cho, Midori-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa, and focuses on technologies for accelerating artificial intelligence and high performance computing applications through the same date. Initiatives include joint research on quantum computer control and calibration technologies that incorporate artificial intelligence for quantum gate calibration. Practical talent development will pair theoretical education with training in quantum bit chip design, manufacturing, control and measurement. Plans call for continued research and development in quantum hardware technology as well as new fusion research areas and next generation computing platform technologies that combine classical and quantum computing.
