NASA selected eight companies to compete for lunar deliveries under a 10-year contract framework with a combined maximum value of $10 billion. It also increased its existing lunar delivery contract ceiling from $2.6 billion to $4.2 billion and awarded six launch and orbital transport task orders worth approximately $1.3 billion combined. Separately, NASA awarded Blue Origin a $94 million base contract to deliver its nuclear-powered PROMISE rover, with an additional $140 million option based on performance. The rover will survey resources at the lunar South Pole using hardware drawn from Curiosity and Perseverance. NASA targets a late 2028 launch and an 18-month mission; selection under the new delivery framework establishes eligibility to compete for future missions.
